The travel and tourism industry sees the role of the travel professional as a consultancy-oriented one, providing high product knowledge, accurate information, excellent customer service and support, and creative thinking. Travel industry analysts and experts believe that these new roles provide new opportunities for career success. The curriculum of Foundation in Travel and Tourism programme is designed in two bite-size courses to reflects these changes, and will prepare learners for a successful career as an international travel professional in a dynamic and exciting industry:
1. IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism I – International Air Travel
2. IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism II – Travel Professional
Foundation in Travel and Tourism II is designed to impart learners with the knowledge of products, services and technology of the travel and tourism industry.
The curriculum also aims to prepare learners for the IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism with Amadeus online examination upon completion of the two bite-size courses.
Course Objectives
The course has been designed to prepare learners who are starting a career or wishing to expand the knowledge in the travel and tourism industry, as to get the essential knowledge needed to succeed. Learners will acquire essential knowledge and improve the customer service and sales skills in order to better advise travel customers about when and where to travel based on their needs.
The curriculum also aims to prepare learners for the IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism with Amadeus online examination upon completion of the two bite-size courses:
1. IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism I – International Air Travel
2. IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism II – Travel Professional
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the learners should be able to:
1. Plan intermodal travel with various types of rail services and train schedules.
2. Advise customers on the difference between car and camper to avoid nasty surprises at the rental counter.
3. Make recommendation and manage customer expectations pertaining to hotel accommodations and lodgings, cruises and pre-packaged tour products.
4. Provide good customer service and retain customer loyalty.
5. Understand the important role of information technology in the travel industry.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum Age: 16 Year Old
- Completion of secondary school education or its equivalent.
Mode of Delivery
- The method of teaching consists of multiple delivery dimensions like face-to-face lectures, individual and group discussions, case analysis, demonstration, role-plays, online quizzes and project assignments.
Assessment Methods
The learning outcomes will be assessed in two forms:
- Online Participative Quiz (40%)
- Project: Individual/Group Presentation and/or Report (60%)

- Full-Time: 40 hours (10 or 14 lessons over 2 months)
- Part-Time: 40 hours (10 or 14 lessons over 2 months)
