IATA Aviation Security Awareness

Security is a concern for everyone in the aviation industry, affecting virtually all areas of operation. Whether learners work with passengers, cargo or at a security checkpoint, they have a role in keeping the industry safe. The course is designed by industry experts to equip learners with skills they can immediately apply in the workplace. The course prepares learners to sit in the IATA online examination for the attainment of the professional certification.

This course is recommended for the following learners:

  1. Entry-level security staff
  2. Industry personnel working with passengers or cargo

 

Course Objectives

This course introduces learners to the security measures and regulations they need to know to work responsibly in the industry. It also provides examples of practices learners can apply in the workplace to identify and prevent potential security threats.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to understand:

  • the role as a future security professional in the overall aviation security framework
  • the types of threats to consider in a security risk assessment
  • the steps for enforcing security in the work areas
  • the role of human factors in maintaining security

 

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16 Year Old
  • Completion of secondary school education or its equivalent.

 

Mode of Delivery

  • Delivers through face to face classroom lecture; individual/group presentation/discussion and hand-on/practice

 

Assessment Methods

The learning outcomes will be assessed in three forms:

  • Online Participative Quiz (20%)
  • Project: Individual/Group Presentation and/or Report (30%)
  • 2 hrs 30 mins summative examination that assesses learners’ competency for employability of the learned skills. (50%)

 

Course Duration

  • Full-Time: 40 hours (10 or 14 lessons over 2 months)
  • Part-Time: 40 hours (10 or 14 lessons over 2 months)

  2. Aviation security regulations and the international organizations behind them
  3. Airport access control for people and vehicles
  4. Passenger, baggage, cargo, mail and catering security basics
